Different Types of Musical Instruments in Indonesia

In Indonesia, "gamelan" is a word meaning orchestra, and the instruments of this orchestra are primarily native to the island of Bali. Instruments involved in the gamelan include percussion instruments, flutes, gongs and various bronze metallophones. These metallophones are tuned to four-note or five-note scales. The Balinese gamelan has a distinct sound that represents the sonic signature of Indonesia.

The music of Indonesia demonstrates its cultural diversity, nearly every one of the 17,508 islands having its own cultural and artistic history and character. This results in hundreds of different forms of music, which often accompanies dance and theater. The musics of Java, Sumatra, Bali, Flores and other islands have been documented and recorded, and research by Indonesian and international scholars is ongoing.

Music has become part of our lives. Side in all our lives there is always music.
This follows the history of music :

Before 1800
The first studies of Western musical history date back to the middle of the 18th century. G.B. Martini published a three volume history titled Storia della musica (History of Music) between 1757 and 1781. Martin Gerbert published a two volume history of sacred music titled De cantu de musica sacra in 1774. Gerbert followed this work with a three volume work Scriptores ecclesiastici de musica sacra containing significant writings on sacred music from the third century AD onwards in 1784.
